Karen Lackey, GPS ‘Director of Community Prevention Services’ Takes Home “John Murray Award”!

The John Murray award is given every two years to a Geauga County professional and volunteer who exemplify an ongoing commitment to children, passion for their work, quiet effectiveness, and a willingness to go ‘above and beyond’.

“In the professional category, Karen Lackey, Community Prevention Services Director , was honored to receive the award for 25 years of service in Geauga County through Geauga ESC. Karen was nominated by Dr. Jennifer Sabol, Cardinal Schools. During Karen’s career she continues to build the Geauga Youth Led Prevention and the Youth Advisory Council (YAC), has participated on multiple planning committees and collaboratives over the years to improve outcomes for youth, and has been a featured speaker on both the state and national stages on youth advocacy topics. She is currently the Geauga Youth Center School Social Worker and also coordinates the School-Community Forum project, that’s goal is to improve the mental health, wellness and future success of Geauga County Students.”
