Geauga Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is an organization in Geauga County that focuses on youth empowering youth throughout our community to create a healthy lifestyle for themselves and future generations through demonstration of leadership skills and prevention programs.
2019 E-Race The Stigma Walk
In June 2019, we hosted our first 5k Run/1 Mile Walk to raise awareness for the stigma surrounding mental health. There were 125 participants at the event. Sponsors for “E-Race The Stigma” included: Burton-Middlefield Rotary, Greener Living and Geauga Growth Partnership, Inc. The student-band ‘Close 2 Second’, which features students from Kenston High School, also played during the event.
YAC’s goals for the 2018-2019 school year include:
-Change the stigma surrounding mental health among youth and increase the number of students reaching out for help, guidance or information on mental health and wellness issues.
